Why train with the Leicester and Leicestershire SCITT?
Postgraduate applicants have a variety of options to choose from including traditional PGCE courses, Graduate Teacher Programmes and School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programmes. The TDA website gives information and guidance on the specific nature of each of these routes. Different applicants will find different routes suit their individual needs.
You may be particularly interested in SCITT training, as provided by the Leicester and Leicestershire SCITT, if the following qualities appeal to you:
- training on a course where Headteachers and Senior Members of staff from high quality, innovative primary schools are at the heart of the programme‘s management and design;
- being taught by trainers who are often experienced, practising teachers or consultants actively engaged in raising standards in local schools;
- carrying out all your studies, in a primary school environment where you are expected to fit into the professional code of conduct and ethos of a primary school at all times;
- spending an increased amount of time training in the classroom, with a clear emphasis on putting theory into practice in both the central and school based training;
- gaining confidence from teaching on block placements in 3 very different primary schools;
- working with pupils, across the full 5-11 year age range, from diverse cultural backgrounds;
- gaining a full PGCE qualification, accredited by a UK university
- feeling supported throughout your training by the ‘SCITT’ family, a close knit group of fellow trainees and dedicated trainers with whom you are likely to form very strong links and friendships.
