Ash Field Academy. WELL alliance of schools supporting pupils with SEN offers School Direct unsalaried places
The Ash Field Academy is the lead school for a School Direct route that provides trainees with invaluable experiences to equip them with the skills and knowledge to become effective and confident teachers for both mainstream primary and special school settings.
Ash Field Academy is a special school for pupils aged four to nineteen years who have a physical disability frequently associated with learning and other disabilities. It is part of the WELL Trust of schools which includes a number of special schools and other partners providing for the range of individual needs. Ash Field Academy is an Outstanding school (Ofsted 2013, 2010, 2006, 2002, 1998) and has an impressive track record in initial teacher training and in leading effective practice for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) working in partnership with both mainstream and special schools.
Trainees applying to Ash Field Academy can expect to have an excellent SEND training as part of a mainstream course and to have at least one out of three school placements in a special school. Trainees will also benefit from a successful and experienced special school teacher mentor over the course of the year.
