Tuition Fees & Financial Support
Tuition Fees
The Leicester & Leicestershire SCITT Management Board has set the tuition fees for 2009-2010 at £3,225. (These fees are subject to approval by the Office for Fair Access (OFFA) ).

Bursaries from the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA)
Trainees from the UK or EU, who are eligible for student support, may be entitled to a tax free non repayable bursary from the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA). In 2008/09 this bursary for primary postgraduate ITT trainees was £4,000 ,payable in nine equal installments from October to June. It is anticipated this bursary will remain at this level in 2009/10.

Maintenance grants
Students in the UK who satisfy residency requirements may also be also eligible for a non-means tested maintenance grant of £1,292 . Additionally, students from lower income households are eligible to receive a further means tested maintenance grant of up to £1,614 from the government. Grants, unlike student loans, do not need to be repaid.

Bursaries from the SCITT
The SCITT recognises the financial pressures on students and offers additional bursaries to support students with lower household incomes as follows:
Students assessed by the Student Loans Company (SLC) as having a household income of under £25,000 may be entitled to an additional bursary paid by the SCITT of £800
Students assessed by the Student Loans Company as having a household income of between £25,001 and £40,000 may be entitled to an additional bursary paid by the SCITT of £500
(These bursaries are subject to approval by the Office for Fair Access)

Tuition fees loan & student maintenance loans
All home students may be eligible to take out a student loan of £3,225 to cover the tuition fees in full. Home students may also be able to apply for maintenance loans of up to £4,950, These student loans are made by the government at a low rate of interest, linked to inflation, and are not repayable until you are earning a salary of over £15,000.

Help for specific groups of students
There is additional, non-repayable help for students with children and adult dependants, and for students with a disability.
students with children could be entitled to the Childcare Grant to help with childcare costs of (worth up to £148.75 for parents with one child or £255 for parents with two or more children) and the Parents' Learning Allowance to help towards course costs (worth up to £1,508)
students with adult dependants could be eligible for the Adult Dependants' Grant - worth up to £2,642
disabled students could be entitled to Disabled Students' Allowances to help with specialist equipment for studying (up to £5,161 for the entire course), a non-medical helper (up to £20,520 a year), extra travel costs and other costs - for example, tapes or Braille paper (up to £1,724 a year)
