Selection Criteria for applications
What we are Looking For
Preliminary clerical screening will ensure candidates meet basic criteria in terms of qualifications and experience. Following this process there will then be additional screening of application forms by Senior Management from within the SCITT partnership to ensure only the highest quality candidates applying are called to interview.
This selection process to call applicants for interview will include consideration of the application forms against the following criteria:
- GCSE and A level grades
- class of degree
- the extent of previous experience within primary schools/other educational settings
- the quality of the supporting statement within the application form
- the standard of written English within the application form;
- the quality of the reference (wherever possible one of the two references should be from a primary school where you have gained recent experience)
Only high quality applications will lead to an interview so it is crucial the application form is carefully completed. The TDA website has an Application form assistant that gives advice on writing supporting statements which is well worth reading before you write your own supporting statement.
We particularly welcome applications from candidates who are able to act as a positive role model for underrepresented groups in primary schools and applicants from the local regional community.
