Leicester & Leicestershire Scitt

Have you got something special?

Do you have the communication skills to interact with colleagues, parents and children? Are you able to understand children to bring out their full potential? If the answer is yes then you have something special, and it takes a special kind of person to become a primary school teacher. Please feel free to browse our site for more details about the Leicester and Leicestershire SCITT.
About the course: Study facilities and support
Each trainee will be loaned a laptop for use throughout the duration of the course. The SCITT offers access to on-line resources, discussion groups and on-line communities, via Broadband technology. Links to websites containing the latest research and inspection evidence will also be available through this technology.

In addition the SCITT will provide its own library of up to date resources, ensuring this includes the most recent and relevant texts to support the professional development of primary ITT trainees. Resources from this library will be available for loan to all trainees.

As registered post-graduate students with the University of Wolverhampton, all trainees will be able to access the materials held by the University of Wolverhampton. This includes access to study support materials and a wide range of electronic journals and electronic books via the internet. Access to many other University libraries, including the University of Leicester library, is also available to trainees thorough their membership of the University of Wolverhampton library. This gives local access to a very wide range of resources for use by ITT trainees.

The SCITT enjoys the full support of both Leicester City LA and Leicestershire LA. Leicester City's Education Centre facilities at Forest Lodge are located close to the Lead School. Free training in the use of these facilities will be provided to all trainees by the LA, as will free access to the high quality Literacy, Numeracy and Multi-Cultural resource centres on this site. All trainees will be able to borrow quality resources from learning centres within both Local Authorities to use within school placements and for professional development purposes.
