About the course: Assessment
Regular and accurate assessments of the trainees will ensure that all trainees recommended for QTS have reliable evidence to demonstrate they have met all the required Standards. This will be done through trainees collecting evidence against the QTS Standards as they progress through the course, using an electronic portfolio. Personal and teaching practice tutors will be closely involved in supporting trainees in this process and in discussing and verifying this evidence.
In addition, all trainees will be required to complete a written assignment and 6 portfolio tasks, linked to the teaching of English, mathematics and science. The assignment and portfolio tasks will be required to meet the University of Wolverhampton criteria for Masters level work, but will also be closely linked to the Professional Standards for Qualified Teacher Status. This work will give trainees the opportunity to reflect on recent research and apply this to their work both in school and in taught sessions. The assignments will be marked by course tutors and Senior Lecturers from the University of Wolverhampton.
It is possible for trainees to gain QTS without gaining a PGCert in the Study of Primary Education. However, all trainees are required to complete the written assignment and portfolio tasks at a level that indicates they are meeting the professional standards.
